About Our School

Why DLA?

Thank you for considering Destiny Life Academy as the school for your child.  We are very excited for the journey God has taken us on in pioneering and birthing Destiny Life Academy.

There are many families in our community that are unable to afford the very expensive school fees of our local private schools.  The alternative is; boarding school, home schooling or travelling long distances to Durban North.  Our local government primary school is also oversubscribed and with the expected growth of the greater Ballito area it is so important to provide parents and children with much needed schooling options.  To expect government to intervene and provide such schooling is unreasonable given the current realities they face.

With this in mind, it is clear that action needs to be taken to make a difference, so we as a church have taken on the responsibility to look at ways to provide a quality and affordable education that will cause our children to grow up into mature, independent learners and thinkers.

Our school is built on Christian values and will cultivate a Biblical lifestyle.  We want our children to experience the love and acceptance of Jesus in a happy, safe and caring environment where they are able to excel in all areas of their learning.  We want to cultivate a love for learning and for our children to be taught and encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning.

Our Ethos

We will be using a variety of teaching methods to help facilitate the learning process.  Children have various learning styles and every child learns differently and to measure a child’s progress according to class averages is also not advantageous to positive and personal development.  Therefore it is important that children are not just taught through traditional methods, but that they are given opportunities for exploration, investigation and research using a variety of resources.  In most traditional classroom setting these opportunities are not encouraged or are unachievable given their limitations.  We are hoping to create a learning environment that will facilitate all the above.

Destiny Life Academy aims to not be associated with being a “cheap education”; however, it is to keep it as affordable as possible.

It is important for you to know that any funds accumulated by the school through school fees, gifts and donations will go directly into the running costs and administration of the school.  The school will be registered as a non-profit organization and we are registered with the Department of Education.

Destiny Life Academy caters for pupils from grade 8 to grade 12.
